Optimism from a positive pre-season didn't last long as Thatcham slumped to a 5-1 loss at Paulton Rovers in an FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie.
A Town side weakened through a number of unforeseen absences missed a first half penalty, and only had Justin Bangura's late strike to show for their efforts.
