With Thatcham hoping to continue with the fine form that they showed in their last game (a 1-0 home win against Wimborne Town) and taunton looking for their first win of the season (after 3 draws and a loss in their first 4 games) this had the look of a close game . But alas it wouuld be a bad day for Thatcham losing 3-0 .
1 min : the game started at a frantic pace with Chris Paterson being booked after only 35 seconds for a foul on the advancing Taunton forward central just outside the area . Luckily the free kick was fired straight at Foster.
6 min : Taunton keep the pressure up on Thatcham whose cause is not helped by bad distribution from the back . On one sch attack Foster saves well from Pepperell then reacts quickly to push Ingrams shot from the follow up round the post for a corner .
16 min : The inevitable happens when after a sustained period of pressure Taunton deservedly take the lead . Taskers left wing cross looped over Foster and Pepperell unmarked on the far post has the easiest task of putting the ball in the net for a 1-0 lead .
In the next few minutes of play Foster comes out on top in 2 one on ones . The first after a good passing move from Taunton Herrod finds himmself through on goal with his shot well saved . The second came after a quick breakaway from a Thatcham corner and Marsh is the player who this tie loses out to Foster when through on goal .
Taunton continue to pile the pressre on Thatcham but at every opportunity Thatcham try to get the ball to their new strike partnership of Adam Wallace and Yashwa Romeo , both ptting in plenty of effort for no reward
36 in : McCready puts over a right wing cross that floated just under the bar pushed away by Moore in the Taunton goal but alas no one was close enough to take advantage .
37 min : High ball knocked towards Thatchams area and Tauunton get a free kick on the edge of Thatchams area when Taplin catches the forward in the face .There is a lengthy delay while the player recieves treatment . Eventually the free kick is taken and hit straight at Foster .
40 min : Thatcham have an appeal for a penalty turned down when Romeo forces his way into the area and has his shirt pulled by Irish as he tries to lay the ball back to a colleague .
41 min : Ball played into the Taunton area is controlled by Roeo with his back to goal he anages to turn and shoot buut his shot is well saved by Price .
44 min : Finally after being warned twice , once for an off the ball incident with Wallace and another for plling Hamiltons shirt as tried to advance with the ball , Jamie Price gets a yellow card for a late tackle on Hamilton .
Losing 1-0 at half time there was still plenty to play for and Thatcham had shown in glimpses that they could get something out of the game . Scott Tarr mmade changes at half time bringing on Tom Lockyer for Adam Wallace and Alex Charlick for Peter Raines .

47 min : A Taunton free kick wide on the right is lofted into the Thatcham area Foster comes out bravely in a crowded area to punch clear .
50 min : Willmoth in the middle of the park beats a couple of players then puts a perfect ball between the 2 centre halves for Tom Lockyer to use his speed to get onto he shoots and keeper manages to save with it going for a corner . Which in turn was cleared .
Tauunton continue to pile on the pressure but at every opportunity Thatcham get the ball to Romeo and Lockyer who are both keeping the back four on their toes .
63 min : Taunton eventually increase their lead when Marsh was allowed to cut into the area and beat Foster chipping the ball over him as he advanced .
73 min : Taunton got their third when Hill was robbed in midfield the ball was played to Marsh whose ball into the area was pt into his own net by McCready .
Zak Kaiser was brought on for Sam Hamilton making his debut .
75 min : The game was again held up when McCready was caught late just above the ankle but after treatment carried on .
80 min : Jamie Price was sent off for his second yellow card when he caught Taplin late .
83 in : Lockyer with neat control on the edge of the area turned and had his shot again well saved by Moore .
In the dying minutes Thatcham showed a lot of grit and put the Taunton back four under pressure Lockyer Romeo and Willmoth putting themselves about but Taunton stood firm to secure a well deserved 3-0 victory .
So with a 10 day break the next gamme up for Thatcham is away to Bishops Cleeve on Tuesday 17th September .
