Manager Neville Roach took his side to Uxbridge on Tuesday night looking for a much improved performance from Saturday's 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Royston Town. He got a much improved performance from his side, twice having a 2 goal lead only to be denied by an Uxbridge fight back.

Thatcham started brightly, pressurising the Uxbridge defence from the start. It took 4 minutes for the lead to be taken, Charlie Hill winning the ball back before playing to Sam Flegg whos ball down the line was chased down well by Danny Seasward who showed good strength to beat a challenge before slotting the ball past the Uxbridge keeper. Thatcham created numerous chances in the opening stages, Adam Kingsbeer getting in a cross from the right which was headed just over by Jack Coventry. Martin Williams' free kick from the right side was flicked on by Danny Seaward but cleared at the far post. Uxbridge were struggling to deal with balls down the lines. Uxbridge levelled the scores against the run of play when Matthew Woods got down the left, cutting inside and curling the ball into the far corner. Adam Kingsbeer again got down the right, his cross bounced under the Uxbridge keeper before spinning just wide of the far post. Tom Browne was alert at the back post to head clear a Matthew Woods cross. Thatcham went close to regaining the lead when after some good control from Danny Seaward he played through Shane Kingston whos curling effort from the edge of the box was superbly tippede onto the post by the Uxbridge keeper. Danny Seaward himself went close, his left footed effort from the right hand side dipped just beyond the cross bar. Thatcham did regain the lead in the 36th minute, Charlie Hill hitting a 25 yard free kick into the top corner to make it 2-1. 2 minutes later it was 3-1, Danny Seaward chasing down a back pass, the Uxbridge keeper shanking his clearence straight to him leaving Seaward the oppertunity to loop the ball over him and into the empty net. 2 minutes before the break Uxbridge pulled a goal back, a break down the left with a cross into the box, the first shot blocked but the rebound smashed in. Early in the second half, Charlie Hill tried his luck again from similar distance but this time hitting just over. Jack Coventry headed just wide from a Tom Browne cross after good work from Danny Seaward. On 67 minutes Thatcham made it 4-2. Shane Kingston perfectly time his loop over the back 4 for Danny Seaward to race onto despite being tugged back the forward stayed on his feet and beet the keeper from just inside the box. On 71 minutes Uxbridge again reduced Thatchams lead, A corner crossed in and fell to Stuart farrell who fired into the far corner making it 4-3. Sam Flegg was called into action making a great sliding block to deny Matthew Woods. On 77 minutes Uxbridge levelld after being awarded a penalty. Chris Moore sending Thatcham keeper Chris Rackley the wrong way to make it 4-4. The game became very stretched and in the 90th minute Uxbridge won it, a corner from the right causing a scramble in the 6 yard box, with the defence failing to clear Thatcham were punished as the Uxbridge forward knocked in from close range.
