Southern League Preview: Thatcham Town vs Larkhall Athletic
The Kingfishers will attempt to extend an incredible unbeaten record when Larkhall Athletic visit The Stacatruc Stadium on Saturday (3:00pm kick-off)
Town drew 1-1 in their most recent outing against Melksham Town after going down to nine men in the second half.
The result means that the Blues are now the only side yet to lose this season after Frome’s slipped to a narrow 2-1 home loss to Slimbridge midweek.
Larkhall have had mixed results throughout the early stages of the season after recording three wins, two draws and two defeats in their fixtures so far.
The visitors lost 3-1 in their last match against Paulton Rovers, who sit within a point of Danny Robinson’s side.
Town will be without Felipe Barcelos, Callum Willmoth and Scott Rees through suspension, with Beeden and Thomas both missing through injury.
Defensive duo Curtis Angell and Matt Day return to match-day proceedings. Meanwhile new signings Matt Partridge, Lamin Sankoh and Fabio Pinto may also be involved in the last first-team fixture at the Stacatruc Stadium until November, depending on potential cup ties.
Head-to-head:
Thatcham Town 3-1 Larkhall Athletic (April, 2019)
Town flew to a fine 3-1 win in the last meeting between the two teams, with Kyle Tooze finding a brace.
Tooze’s early goal was cancelled out by Harry Hope’s dipping effort from 25 yards in the first half.
Forward, George Jeacock, stepped in as goalkeeper after Calum Ward went off injured but Tooze restored Town’s advantage with a strike from the edge of the box.
Zidan Akers, who had provided both assists in the game, rounded off the win by smashing home his side’s third late on.
Larkhall Athletic 2-0 Thatcham Town (September, 2018)
Lewis Powell scored a brace as the Kingfishers fell to a 2-0 defeat little over a year ago.
Powell found the net in the 16th minute before sealing his side’s win after finishing a Mason Winter cross at the beginning of the second half.
