Thatcham started brightly rattling the woodwork inside the first 5 minutes. Both sides were looking to attack with the game becoming very end to end.
Moneyfield took the lead on 25 minutes. A good passing move saw the ball pulled back from the byline to the centre of the box and Joseph Briggs fired home giving Paul Strudley no chance in the Thatcham goal.
The Kingfishers responded straight from kick off, working the ball out to the right wing where Adam Kelly whipped in an inviting cross for Kyle Tooze to power home a header.
Just before half time Moneyfields were reduced to 10 men when Conor Bailey blocked a Felipe Barcelos shot with a hand on the line. Barcelos took the resulting spot kick but the keeper saved low to his right.
Thatcham started the second half brightly, using the extra man and delivering crosses into the box. Moneyfields defended solidly with the centre backs dealing well with any high balls. Despite pressing forward Thatcham were unable to create clear chances and Moneyfields threatened several times on the break.
George Jeacock was introduced upfront as the Kingfishers continued to press forward but the 10 men of Moneyfields held firm for a 1-1 draw.
