When people think of us, the first thing that usually comes to mind is football and that’s
exactly how it should be. We’re proud of our team, our history, and everything we’ve
achieved on the pitch. But the truth is its important to remember that we’re more than just a
football club.

To keep the football club running at this level, we also must make the most of our facilities.
Our rooms are hired out for business meetings, parties, weddings, and wakes. When people come to look around, one of the first things they often say is how much they like the fact that the walls aren’t covered in football photos or trophies. The rooms are neutral, which makes them feel right for any occasion. Without this side of things, we simply couldn’t afford to keep the club going where it is today. Visiting teams regularly comment on our set-up, often saying how much they wish they had a venue like ours, one that brings in vital revenue as an event space as well as a football ground. That extra income really does make a huge difference.

That doesn’t mean we’re ignoring our footballing history, far from it. We’re hugely proud of
the club’s achievements, and we always will be. It’s just about finding the right balance.

This week a team of hard working individuals set about revamping the Cross Bar giving it a fresh new modern look. We have continued to keep this area neutral so that it remains suitable for hire, but we want to strike the right balance. The smaller room (the one that used to be for hospitality but is now open as extra seating for fans) will also be decorated this season. But because this space isn’t really used for hire, it gives us the perfect chance to bring in some football photos and celebrate our history properly.

This way, we can keep the club moving forward off the pitch while still remembering
everything that’s been achieved on it. We’re proud of where we’ve come from, and excited
about where we’re going – together.
