25 August - Bank Holiday Report

Flackwell Heath got back to winning ways on a rain soaked Bank Holiday after being held to a draw at the weekend. The Heathens travelled to Kidlington and won 3-1 with a goal from Thomas-James Peddle and two from Dan Rapley. Lewis Coyle scored for Kidlington. Brimscombe & Thrupp jumped into second place following an 8-1 demolition of Cheltenham Saracens, who have yet to gain a point. Sam Blackie led the way for Brimscombe with a hat trick. There were doubles for Ashley Brown and Jordan Fletcher and a goal from Dan Holloway. Carter Willie scored Saracen’s goal. Oxford City Nomads notched their second win of the Bank Holiday weekend with a 5-1 away win at Abingdon United Zac McEachran, Adam Lovegrove , Louis Joyce and Rhys Denton were amongst the goals for the Nomads. Aaron Andrews scored for Abingdon United. Thame United won 2-0 away at Ardley United with goals from Luke Ricketts and Conor McDonagh. Thatcham Town were another side to make it maximum points over the weekend winning 3-1 at Shrivenham, scoring through Luke Farrugia, Stuart Parker and Yashwa Romeo. Steve Robertson scored for Shrivenham. Milton United won 2-1 at Newbury with goals from Rob Joyce and Tom Austin. Russell Benham replied for Newbury. Bracknell Town won 3-0 at Ascot United in front of the day’s best attendance of 112. Shane Cooper-Clark scored all three Bracknell goals. In the Wiltshire local derby, Highworth Town beat Wootton Bassett Town 1-0 at the Corinium Stadium, Cirencester. Callum Parsons scored the winning goal.

 

23 August Premier Division
Flackwell Heath lead the fledgling table by a point but dropped points for the first time this season, being held to a 2-2 draw by Wootton Bassett Town for whom two late Sam English goals rescued a point. Flackwell Heath had taken a two goal lead through Dan Rapley and an own goal. Kidlington missing several key players are in second place following a 3-1 win over third place Highmoor Ibis. Kidlington’s goals came from Chris Weedon, Tom Franklin and Jack Quainton. Mitchell Parker replied for Highmoor with a fine strike. Binfield moved up the table with a 2-0 defeat of Abingdon United with late goals from Adam Dickens and Jemel Johnson. Oxford City Nomads beat previously unbeaten Highworth Town 3-2. John  Rixon, Louis Joyce and  Lewis Gabbidon were all on target for the Nomads. Callum Parsons and TJ Bohane replied for Highworth. Thatcham Town beat Ardley United 1-0 with Paul Taplin scoring the only goal of the match. Thame United beat Reading Town 2-1, Dan Jones scoring both goals for Thame and Carl Davies netting for Reading. Brimscombe & Thrupp travelled to Bracknell Town and won 3-2 with goals from David Woodfield, Karl Nash and Kristian Turner. Shane Cooper-Clark and George Hobden scored for Bracknell. Ascot United beat Newbury 2-1 with a late penalty from Ian Brooks. Former Wantage Town player, Matt Pedder, had opened the scoring with a goal for Newbury which Ascot equalised through Leon Yarnie. Shrivenham continue to make good progress winning 2-1 away at Cheltenham Saracens with goals from David Coleman and Steve Robertson. Holyport recorded their first win of the season winning 2-1 away at Milton United Dan Cox-Rogers scored for Milton, Jamie West and Jerrell Gumbs scored the goals for “Port”.

One West
Longlevens AFC lead Division One West from Tuffley Rovers on goal difference. Longlevens were held to a 2-2 draw away at Cirencester Town Development. Shaun O’Connor gave Longlevens a half time which James Smith cancelled out with an equaliser. David Rich restored the lead for Longlevens but for one minute only when Shane Bumphrey drew Cirencester level once more. Tuffley Rovers won 1-0 away at Lydney Town in front of the day’s best attendance of 82. Ashley Davies scored for Tuffley. Carterton lost for the first time this season going down 1-2 at home to neighbours Clanfield for whom James Fleming and Steve Olphert scored in quick succession. Reece Bayliss pulled a goal back for Carterton. North Leigh beat Wantage Town Reserves 2-1 with goals from Alfie Saunders and Jacob Hughes. Lee Smith scored for Wantage. Shortwood United got off the mark for the season with a 3-1 win over Purton. James Singh netted twice for Shortwood together with a goal from Will Hawse. Ben Carter scored for Purton. Tytherington Rocks registered their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw against Fairford Town. The Rocks scored through Szymon Gromek and Safian Skupinski with Jordan Cobb and Player/Manager Gareth Davies replying for Fairford. Hook Norton won 1-0 away at Letcombe with Craig Robinson netting the only goal of the match.

One East
Old Woodstock Town are enjoying a new lease of life in Division One East and have taken over the lead following a 1-0 defeat of Rayners lane with a goal from Joe Woods. Easington Sports moved into second place following a 7-1 demolition of Chalfont wasps. Andrew Stidder opened the scoring for Easington followed by doubles for Carl Standen, Ben Hughes and Steve Howkins (previously of Premier Division, Ardley United). Luke Garvey scored for Chalfont Wasps in the first minute! Brackley Town Development beat previous leaders Finchampstead 1-0 with a goal from Andrew Johnson. Chinnor beat Burnham by the odd goal in seven. John McMahon leapt out of the traps scoring twice for Chinnor in the first two minutes. Further goals followed from Stuart McClellan and Stuart Braun. Richard Jeffrey, Dayo Oshitola and Conrad Joseph scored for Burnham. Penn & Tylers Green won 3-0 at Didcot Town with Chris Hurst netting all three goals. Headington Amateurs were held to a 1-1 draw by Woodley Town. Tom Payne scored for Headington with Woodley equalising through an own goal. The match between Henley Town and Wokingham & Emmbrook had to be abandoned with two minutes remaining following a serious head injury suffered by the Wokingham Goalkeeper in a clash of heads. Wokingham were winning the match 4-2 at the time of the abandonment with two goals from Luke Scope and goals from George Dance and James Charlton. Sean Moore and Warren Baxter had scored for Henley Town.
