Thatcham fans will have noticed two recent additions to the squad

Firstly, Shemar Pettet, a 21-year-old defender. Shemar is a full-back who can play on either flank, however has featured in the back three in recent fixtures against Bideford, North Leigh and Melksham Town.

He previously captained Thatcham’s Youth Team where he played alongside current first-teamers Alex Fragata and Tinashe Gwavava.

Shemar has played for Wantage Town in the past, and last season represented Tadley Calleva. He was keen to step back up to Southern League football, and signed on having impressed Jamie Leacock in training.

A player in his position who has inspired him is former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, however Shemar is an Arsenal supporter.

Secondly, making his debut in Saturday’s win over Melskham was Felix Prudden.

Felix is a 24-year-old midfielder who slotted in alongside George Smith on Saturday to add protection to the back three.

Felix played for Marlow United when our Assistant Manager Yashwa Romeo was on their coaching staff, before moving to Thame Rangers, and played in the pre-season friendly at the Stacatruc Stadium.

He describes himself as a hard worker who will always give 100% for the badge, and described it as a no-brainer to make the step up to the Southern League with the Kingfishers.

Felix is a former Reading FC season ticket holder, who is aware of Thatcham Town’s recent successes having attended the FA Vase Final.

As a youngster he admired Ronaldinho as he was the most talented and skilful player he has seen. In his position he particularly respects N’Golo Kante for his ability to work hard, win the ball, and keep it simple by supplying the more technical players around him.

Welcome to the club Shemar and Felix!
