Dear Supporters, Players, Staff, and Sponsors,
As we approach our final home league fixture of the year against Tadley Calleva FC on Saturday, we would like to wish everyone associated with the club a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Reflecting on the past year, it has been a period of both challenges and progress for our club. While we encountered obstacles that tested our resilience, we also celebrated a number of exciting developments along the way.
Following a challenging 2024/25 season, our First Team experienced relegation from Step 4 football. While this was a difficult outcome, it provided the club with an opportunity to reflect, reset and build for the future.
The summer brought significant change, with a number of departures both on and off the field. This included changes within the club’s behind-the-scenes structure, the departure of First Team Manager Yashwa Romeo, and the natural transition of several players reaching the end of their time with the club. In response, the club demonstrated great resilience by regrouping, forming a new committee and appointing a fresh First Team management team.
Starting with a blank canvas, Cameron Philbey and his new management team embraced the opportunity to recruit new players and lay the foundations for a new chapter. Off the field, the newly formed committee focused on key priorities to ensure the club was fully prepared for the new season. This work has continued to deliver positive outcomes, strengthening the club’s operations and improving the way we utilise our facilities to their full potential.
Results on the pitch have been challenging this season, which was anticipated given the competitive nature of Step 5 football. It remains a strong and demanding level, and we have embraced the opportunity to develop a squad built around many young players, several of whom are experiencing their first season of senior football or stepping up from lower levels.
This youthful energy has been complemented by a core of experienced players, creating a positive dressing-room environment that supports development and unity. With this blend of talent, commitment and togetherness, we remain focused on getting things right and achieving our primary objective of securing our place at this level.
Finally volunteers are the heartbeat and backbone of grassroots football clubs. We know that without the dedication and commitment of our volunteers, the club we all love simply would not exist. That said, there is always room for more helping hands, and we are continually looking for new volunteers who may be able to offer some of their time, even if it’s just a couple of hours,to support the club.
We would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to our supporters, staff, and players. volunteers and everyone connected with the club, your contributions, whether big or small, are invaluable and deeply appreciated.
Together, we are in a position to continue to grow the club and the future success of Thatcham Town FC. Have a wonderful new year and here's to an exciting 2026.
