Non-League Day marks the return to FA Trophy action for the Kingfishers!

Thatcham Town are looking ahead to Non-League Day this Saturday by welcoming Cirencester Town to Waterside Park the Buildbase FA Trophy Preliminary Round (3:00 kick-off)

The tie marks the end of the Kingfisher's five-year wait to return to the competition, with their last fixture in the tournament coming in the 2013/14 campaign.

Last season saw the hosts fly to Wembley to raise their first ever FA Vase crown. Town’s promotion to the Southern League also came with the added bonus of qualifying for the Trophy this year instead.

But Blues manager Danny Robinson isn’t getting ahead of himself and is wary of his upcoming opponents;

“First and foremost we have got to defend very very well on Saturday. They’re a very, very good side,” the 32-year-old explained.

“Everybody raves about their highest scorer in the league last year which was Ben Whitehead, and rightly so! He scores class goals so obviously he’s a threat.

“(Tommy) Anderson and (Aiden) Bennett are their wingers: very good, very quick and lively.”

Cirencester will be aiming to avenge their recent 3-0 FA Cup exit at the hands of Winchester City.

Thatcham, however, enter the game with confidence having previously won back-to-back Southern League matches against Evesham Town and Bristol Manor Farm in their last outings.

“We are confident; we’re a confident bunch win lose or draw. We want to continue with the good form that we currently have,” said Robinson.

“In football things can turn very quickly but we know that if we match their work rate and desire then we’re a force to be reckoned with ourselves.

“If we turn up well we’ll have a very good chance but if we don’t then we’ll get knocked out of the FA Trophy. We know what we’ve got to do and hopefully we can do that on Saturday.”

Join us down at Waterside Park this weekend to cheer on the Kingfishers! Ticket prices for the game are listed below:
