Match report by Matt Bateman
Thatcham Town came away with all three points from an action packed boxing day clash with Fleet Town. Both sides started the game looking to attack but clear cut chances were hard to come by on a difficult pitch.
Thatcham opened the scoring on 40 minutes, Shane Cooper-Clark
blasted a free-kick from the edge of the box around the wall and into the net with the keeper rooted to the spot. Thatcham extended their lead on 63 minutes, Adam Kelly
firing home on the half volley after a long throw in was only partially cleared.
Silva was sent off for Fleet for a second bookable offence but despite that they pulled a goal back on 80 minutes through Meshach Williams, scrambling home from close range to set up a tense final 10 minutes. Fleet were reduced to 9 men with a straight red for a dangerous tackle before a flurry of yellow cards for both sides as tempers flared.
Thatcham's George Jeacock
then missed a 90th minute penalty to seal the win but the Kingfishers held on for all 3 points.
