Bowes made his senior debut for Wokingham Town in 1988/89 under Terry Brown. His high point as a player was in the FA Cup First Round Proper playing for Bracknell Town vs Lincoln City in the 2000/01 season.
Bowes has a vast network and depth of learning experience through playing and being coached under managers such as Roy Merryweather, Ernie Howe, Phil Alexander, Nicky Collier, Brian Broome, Wayne Wanklyn, Jim Kelman, John Griffiths, Gerald 'Cabbie' Smith, Clive & Mark Tallentire, Richard Whitty and, of course, Dan Robinson.
Bowes' footballing career has now spanned over four decades, mainly playing as a tough tackling, box-to-box centre midfield player, with the best part of 800+ senior football appearances across the Isthmian and Hellenic Leagues, culminating (but not finished yet!) in a cameo subs appearance at 50 years old for Thatcham Town FC in the 2016/17 season.
Bowes also manages & coaches Thatcham Town Harriers U15s, for whom his son Theo is a player, helping to develop and nurture local talented players since they were U7s.
