Thatcham Town have completed the signing of former Swindon Supermarine centre-back Zak Westlake.

Having started out with Cirencester Town, Zak moved to North Leigh and spent four seasons there playing in the Southern League. In 2016 he moved to the Webbs Wood Stadium, captaining the Supermarine side which won promotion to the Southern League Premier. Towards the end of last season he featured for Highworth Town but will be playing his football at Waterside Park this campaign.

Zak is a solid and determined centre-half who loves defending, but given the opportunity likes to play the ball out from the back. Having worn the skipper’s armband over at Swindon he will clearly bring experience and leadership qualities with him to Thatcham.

Zak, who will link up with former team-mates Joe Selman and Jack Alexander at Waterside Park said “Danny talked very positively about the club’s ambition and sold Thatcham Town to me. The players that have been brought in over the summer look quality, and I want to be a part of it.”
