Over the past fortnight Thatcham Town have announced seven new signings

Manager Danny Robinson has been busy as the club prepares for a second season in the Southern League Division 1 South.

By the end of May the club had announced that 12 of last season’s squad had agreed to stay at Waterside Park, while 3 members from last season’s Youth Team squad had graduated to First Team status. In addition, young goalkeeper Ben Morton has since joined the trio in moving up to the first team.

Robinson has also attracted seven new faces to club, the latest being that of commanding centre-back Matt Day. He captained Hungerford Town as they climbed up to the Conference South, and was part of Bracknell Town team which reached the play-off final last season.

At the other end of the pitch the Kingfishers have brought in Felipe Barcelos who has been a prolific goalscorer in spells with Grantham Town and Didcot Town.

The supply line has been boosted with the signing of wingers Joe Selman from Swindon Supermarine and former Youth Team player Alex Fragata who last season played for Hungerford Town and Tadley Calleva.

In the middle of the park Sam Barder has arrived from Didcot Town will add quality to the midfield, while youngster George Farrelly has arrived from Alresford Town where made a strong impression last season.

Finally one very familiar face has returned, as Paul Strudley, whose involvement with club stretches back to 2004, has returned as the club’s goalkeeper. Over the last few seasons he has been at Hungerford Town and Hartley Wintney, and last season was on Thatcham’s coaching staff.

Further signings may yet follow, but a solid squad already looks to have been assembled prior to pre-season training beginning on 2nd July.
