Callum Willmoth has re-signed for Thatcham Town after spending the last two seasons with Hungerford

Callum has made 152 appearances in three previous spells with the Kingfishers, scoring 13 goals. He made his Thatcham Town debut in August 2011, in a 0-0 draw at home to Gosport Borough alongside current team-mates Paul Strudley, Gareth Thomas, Tom Melledew and Scott Rees.

During 2012/13 he picked up the ‘Player’s Player of the Season’ award, while the following season in the Southern League D1 Central under Richie Bourne he won the ‘Manager’s Player of the Season’ award.

After rejoining the Kingfishers in 2015/16 he again won the ‘Player’s Player of the Season’ award as Thatcham finished second in the Hellenic Premier Division. He mostly played on the left wing the following season and scored 8 times, including a first-half hat-trick in the 11-0 win at Burnham.

Callum moved to Hungerford Town in 2017/18 but just as he was becoming established in the Crusaders’ Conference South team, disaster struck as he suffered an ACL injury. After over a year out he returned to their first team squad towards the end of last season.

Callum will be another experienced head in the centre of Thatcham’s midfield next season, and upon returning to Waterside Park said “It feels fantastic to be back. I’ve had many good seasons here and it’s great to return home to a club I’m very familiar with.”

He featured in Saturday’s friendly at Ringwood, scoring the eighth goal, and added “I have a lot of time for Danny Robinson, Andy Darnton and the management team. I’m looking forward to the new season and can’t wait to get started.”
